Shaun the Sheep movie on the way

StudioCanal has announced it will be partnering with Aardman Animations to produce their next film.

Shaun the Sheep, who first debuted in the brilliant A Close Shave, has been entertaining audiences in over 170 countries with his own television show becoming one of Aardman’s most popular characters. Now he and his flock are going to star in an all new stop-motion film, written and directed by Richard Starzak and Mark Burton.

The film will see Shaun, Bitzer the farm dog and the flock venturing into the big city, after Shaun’s mischief accidentally leads to the farmer being taken away from the farm.

StudioCanal will be financing and distributing the film in the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.

Co-founder and Executive Chairman at Aardman, David Sproxton says – “Shaun and his friends have a massive global following and we very excited about being able to put them into a bigger adventure for the big screen. We are naturally also very excited about partnering with StudioCanal for this project, their track record and expertise in international film financing and distribution seems a perfect fit.”
