Sam And The Comp Celebrate First Big Top 40 No.1

Tonight, Sam and the Womp have landed their first Big Top 40 number one, with their infectious summer hit Bom Bom, stealing the crown from Rita Ora.

The single hit the top spot just hours after it was released, thanks to fans downloading it in their thousands.

The band was formed in 2011 when Sam Ritchie’s band Qdos joined forces with producer Aaron Audio. The duo have spent the summer travelling around the country performing at various festivals, creating an overwhelming following along the way.

Elsewhere in this week’s chart, last week’s no.1 How We Do (Party) from Rita Ora fell to no.2, whilst Wiley’s big summer tune Heatwave charted at no.4.

Here’s this week’s chart in full:

1. Bom Bom – Sam And The Womp

2. How We Do (Party) – Rita Ora

3. Read All About It – Emeli Sande

4. Heatwave – Wiley

5. Spectrum – Florence + The Machine
