Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland 1965 was shot nearly five decades ago during the Stones’ short tour of Dublin and Belfast. In celebration of the band’s 50th anniversary, the original 35 minute cut, from director Peter Whitehead will be released as part of a Super Deluxe Box Set.
Also included in the Deluxe edition is a 50 minute version from the Stones’ producer, Andrew Loog Oldham, that was originally edited in the 1980s. An extended 65 minute cut, two CDs, a 10-inch vinyl record, a 42-page book and various prints complete the box set. The DVD and Blue-ray versions feature all three cuts of the films.
The Irish tour came on the heels of the Stones’ seminal UK and US no.1 hit (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. The original line-up of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Brian Jones and Bill Wyman can be seen in the film’s behind-the-scenes footage enjoying the period of early fame, success and creativity. From jamming to performing to hanging-out, Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland 1965 is a rare glimpse of these young rock icons.
Charlie Is my Darling – Ireland 1965 will be released on 5 November 2012 on DVD, Blue-ray and CD.
