Release Date Revealed For Microsoft Surface

Microsoft has confirmed that its Microsoft Surface tablet will be launching alongside the Windows 8 operating system this October, according to an annual report from the company.

Surface is Microsoft’s own iPad rival (or SchmiPad) that’ll support Xbox SmartGlass and even potentially interface with games like Halo 4.

“The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012,” reads Microsoft’s annual report. It continues “At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices.”

The date relates only to the cheaper Microsoft Surface model with an ARM processor, rather than the elite model that packs a superior Intel processor. Pricing for both models has yet to be confirmed, but with an October 26th launch, I’m sure we’ll be seeing some pricing information real soon.
