Nintendo 3DS XL Announced

Nintendo has announced the 3DS XL at its latest Nintendo Direct Conference.

The new model will launch on 28 July in Europe and it boasts a 4.88 inch screen, making it 90 per cent larger than the current 2.02″ 3DS screen. This in fact makes it the largest screen that a Nintendo handheld has ever had.

However, it boggles the mind as to why they haven’t included the second circle pad. Truly boggles. It seems a very stupid move on Nintendo’s part not to include the second circle pad on a revised model and I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that.

Anyway, onto the rest of the positives, the 3DS XL also features a much needed larger battery life, estimated to last between 3.5-6.5 hours for 3DS games, and 6-10 hours for DS titles. But no plug. Yep, that’s right, the 3DS XL will not come packaged with an AC adapter, though it will be compatible with 3DS, DSi, and DS XL AC adapters. You can fork out for one though, along with the charging cradle.

And the most important thing of all, the 3DS XL will come in three colours at launch: red, blue, and silver.
