Minecraft Launches on 360 in Disc Form on 28 June

It’s not often new videogame genres are created nowadays, but Minecraft more or less created the build-’em-up and has since gone on to become quite the sensation. Millions across the planet have set out under a blazing square sun to rip cubes of resources out from the pixellated earth, and the game’s debut on Xbox 360 was well-received too.

However, for those still considering their sojourn into this addictive world, there’s also a disc version of Minecraft in the works for the 360. It’s set to release exclusively on Microsoft’s console on 28th June, and will ship with a 48-hour Xbox LIVE Gold membership for those using the Silver service who nevertheless want to sample the online shenanigans of the title.

It’s always good to see the cube-addled Minecraft universe expand, and we’re interested to see how consumers will take to the disc version of the game this summer. For those of you who’ve not played the game yet (which by our last estimation was about twelve people on the entire planet), does this retail edition tempt you into taking the plunge?
