Review: Grimm

Grimm premiered on Watch HD tonight, but is it worth the channel it’s shown on? Find out here.

Grimm is brought to you by the Producers of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. This fantasy-drama American import homes in on the Brothers Grimm stories with a modern twist.

David Giuntoli plays Nick Burkhardt, a homicide detective from Portland, Oregan who begins noticing things he didn’t see before. It starts innocent enough as the mind playing tricks until a visit from a family member Marie (Kate Burton) who puts it all into perspective. In quick succession things start falling into place for him with the help of an unlikely partner. At this point I must say that although it did start off a tiny bit slow, I was sitting on the edge of my seat at the end – don’t judge it by the first 10 – 15 minutes. Wait that little bit longer for the beat to drop. You’ll be glad you did.

There are some great comedy moments amidst the intense storyline which is a great way to balance the script. Although at times a slightly rigid dialogue holds it back, being the pilot episode it can be forgiven. With a couple of fantastic shots and a great lead to build rapport with, Grimm could be the one to watch.

So far, so good. Continue to watch as the story unfolds on Watch and Watch HD, Mondays 9pm.
