George Lucas’s Red Tails Flying Into UK Cinemas On 6 June

George Lucas’s pet project Red Tails will be released in the UK and Ireland on 6 June 2012, the 68th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Inspired by the true story of World War II’s first African American fighter squadron, Red Tails is a action film with what is described as the most realistic dogfights ever to hit the screen. This we can believe as Star Wars’s dogfight scenes are very enjoyable and as some of you may know Lucas used real footage from WW2 dogfights to shape the vision he had to the technical wizards.

Executive produced by George Lucas and directed by Anthony Hemingway (The Wire), Red Tails is tells the tale of the 332nd fighter group of the U.S. Army Air Corps who overcame racial discrimination to become one of the most distinguished squadrons in World War II.
