So this year’s Summer has been a bit…damp to say the least, the Olympics are over and the release date for Bioshock Infinite has been pushed back yet again. There are still some pretty good reasons to be cheerful though, despite all of that. Three to be exact!
A very wise man once said “Reasons to be cheerful 1,2,3″ before spouting off nearly a hundred different things worth smiling about (some of them illegal). We’re not going to indulge you quite so much, but we do have three solid reasons to be jolly. And here they are…
1. Darksiders II
The fabled sequel in the Darksiders series is finally here, and it’s fantastic! In Darksiders II you take on the role of Death, who is War’s sardonic brother and of course another of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
If you loved the first Darksiders game (most people did), you will not be disappointed. A definite crowd pleaser this and guaranteed to raise a smile with its blend of combat, exploration and dark comedy. You’ve got to have a sense of humor to be the Grim Reaper right?
Check out our full review of Darksiders II.
2. Star Wars 1313
We may be well on our way to getting a Star Wars game that finally lives up to the sense of awe that the original trilogy created. Although this is a departure from the saber-swinging antics of the Knights of the Old Republic series, what we’re seen so far looks truly promising.
It seems that you will play a bounty hunter, operating in the dark underbelly of Coruscant, City in the Clouds. The gameplay looks gritty and much more real than what we’ve seen in Force Unleashed. Plus so far, we haven’t seen a Jar Jar Binks in sight. Result!
More on Star Wars 1313 soon. Promise.
3. Halo 4
It’s so close, we can almost taste the sweat-drenched trigger on Master Chief’s trust Assault Rifle. Mmm salty. Seriously though, Halo 4 is just under 3 months away and we can barely contain ourselves with glee. Everyday sees another X on the Halo Calendar, binging us closer to the Grunt-genocide that will be launch day.
In-case you’ve been living in a darkened hole for the last year, Halo 4 will see the return of Master Chief, the series’ main protagonist. Our Spartan friend will be taking on a new yet ancient enemy and so far it looks epic. Yes indeed, we’re expecting great things and needless to say, we’re very happy about Halo 4.
Halo 4 is due out 6 November 2012. Check out the E3 live action trailer and campaign demo below and be cheerful dammit!
Do you have any other reasons to be cheerful at the moment? We’d love to hear from you so let us know!
