Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Gameplay Trailer And Collectible Pirate Plunder Announced

We’ve been getting ready to plunder the Spanish Main ever since Ubisoft explosively lifted the lid on the latest instalment in the Assassin’s Creed saga. But it seems there’s plenty more to come, as not only has a new gameplay trailer (shown below) gone live, but Ubisoft has also begun to entice gamers with a variety of promotions and special editions.

But for now, budding pirates, feast your eyes upon the gameplay glory below:

Yo ho ho indeed!

As denoted at the end of the trailer, the Black Chest collector’s edition is the premiere Assassin’s Creed IV instalment, apparently exclusive to uPlay preorders. Alongside the usual artbooks, soundtracks and lithographs you can also expect a literal shipload of DLC, a themed Black Flag of your own, a map of the Caribbean and a diorama figure of Edward Kenway launching an attack from the prow of the Jackdaw.

Other collectible editions are available, however. Exclusive to GAME in the UK and Gamestop in Ireland is the Bucanneer Edition, featuring ingame unlockables, two lithographs, the artbook and soundtrack as well as a figurine of Kenway atop the Jackdaw’s crow’s nest. If exclusivity isn’t your thing, the Skull Edition of Black Flag will apparently be in all retail outlets, packing DLC and the artbook, lithographs and soundtrack but without any pirate figure goodness. Meanwhile, the Special Edition is laden with exclusive game content but, as is par for the course, will only be around at the time of the game’s launch this November.

It seems this time Ubisoft are going one step further though. In addition to all this booty, they’re also offering an exclusive VIP club of sorts known as The Watch, membership of which seems to be redeemed by exclusive codes granted by preorders from select retail outlets. According to the unveiled website, membership will grant unique rewards, achievements and a deeper look into the universe of Assassin’s Creed.
