Angry Birds reaches half a billion downloads… and counting

Rovio have announced that their pig bashing series Angry Birds has reached the 500 million downloads milestone across various platforms. This makes Angry Birds one of the most downloaded games ever with no signs of slowing down.

So far, fans of angered birds have played a total of 200,000 years of Angry Birds, with 300 million minutes of playing time daily. Moreover, more than 266 billion levels of Angry Birds have been played, with 400 billion birds launched into action, and over 44 billion Stars collected in the process. If you want to see this in animated form watch the video below.

And this worldwide gaming phenomenon shows no sign of slowing down. Rovio is about to open the world’s first official Angry Birds retail shop in Helsinki. Angry Birds merchandise is a continuously growing business having already shipped more than 10 million toys worldwide. The company has also launched the first Angry Birds books and earlier this year acquired an animation studio based in Helsinki, Finland so it can start marking its own cartoons.
