Feature: Five Great Games Coming To The Wii U In 2013

Now that the Wii U has been released with some great launch titles such as ZombiU and Assassin’s Creed III (you can read our reviews by clicking on those links), I can not help but think what great games we still have coming. These are just a few titles coming to the Wii U in 2013.

Pikmin 3
There has been a lot of hype about Pikmin 3 coming to the Wii U after it was rumoured to being released in 3D for the 3DS. The game has been delayed and will most probably be released after Easter but there is not a confirmed date yet but it will come in good time. The announcements that have been made for Pikmin 3 have shown that there is four new nameless, playable characters, there is a tall green haired man, short blue haired man, pink haired lady and a rather buff bald man. Along with the new characters there is new Pikmin, we will still have the original red, blue and yellow Pikmin but there will be a rock Pikmin who can tackle crystal walls which others cannot. There is a few Pikmin who where not properly announced but have been talked about, like the pink Pikmin who appeared in the trailer and seem to have the ability to fly, there has also been news of a purple, white and mushroom Pikmin that have seem to have faded into the back ground. In the way of new enemies, there has been a few confirmed (names are not set) such as the Whiptongue Bulborb, with the same appearance of any other Bulborb, but with a secret. This Bulborb has a long tongue that can suck up your Pikmin. There is also the Medusal Slurker who floats around and drops rock Pikmin when defeated, it has been rumoured to turn normal Pikmin into rock Pikmin as it’s name suggests “Medusal – Medusa”.

Rayman Legends
That’s right, Rayman, Globox and Teensies are back. With Rayman Legends being among the most anticipated Wii U games there has been a lot of features announced and going around. There is new, uniquely themed levels with creative soundtracks, new characters, new environments and new music. The game is said to use the GamePad very well, helping you take out enemies, manipulate platforms, cut ropes to clear paths and much more. There is also a lot a new features coming like The Game Must Go On, five player co-op, 3D boss battles and much more. Rayman Legends has been given a 28 February release date so we don’t have to wait too long.

Wii Fit U
Wii Fit U is set for a Q1 release for the US 2013 but there is no word for the UK yet. This latest installment of Wii Fit looks pretty good and has a lot of new features. There will be eight fitness routines with a new dance category, others include aerobic, strength training, yoga and more from Wii Fit Plus. Wii Fit U will come with a Fit Meter pedometer which will keep up your fitness routine when you leave the house so you do not have to do worry about not getting everything done when you are busy. This game will also use the GamePad remote play feature, so if someone is using the TV and you have to get your routine out of the way you can just use the GamePad instead.

Game & Wario
Game & Wario is a getting a Q1 2013 release date and will feature a total of 16 mini games with classics from WarioWare including Arrow, Skiing, Shutter and everyone’s favourite, Nose Picking! The game will allow up to five player multiplayer, one game to take full advantage of this is called Fruit. This sees the GamePad player becoming the apple thief and the other four will have to become detectives and catch the them.

Aliens: Colonial Marines
Aliens: Colonial Marines will be released on the 12 February and puts players as part of the colonial marines who are tasked with taking out the onslaught of Xenomophs. Featuring four playable characters; Cpl. Christopher Winter, Sergeant O’Neil, Rook, Jeremy Cruz and Bella Clarison, plus some classic weapons from the films like the M41A Pulse Rifle, M65 Smart Gun and the motion tracker it has the potential to be pretty fun/scary. And as you may have guessed, with four playable characters you can play with three of your friends. You can team up to go through the campaign and play in multiplayer rounds such as Team Deathmatch, Escape and Survival.

These are just a few of the great games coming to the Wii U in early 2013, with so more coming our way. I want to know what games you are excited about what makes you excited to play them, so feel free to post all your comments below.

This is a pathetic lineup. Is this really supposed to get people to buy a Wii U? I really wanted one until I realized how few worthwhile forthcoming releases there are.

Niche title in Pikmin. Rayman is admittedly decent. Wii Fit U is more casual crap. Ditto for Game and Wario. (Do we really need more minigame collections?) Aliens can be bought on current gen systems.

Game and Wario is actually really fun and Aliens can be bought on other consoles but the definitive version is only available on the Wii U. The article missed out Lego City Undercover and Bayonetta and there is already quite a few great games available right now. There are enough good launch titles to make the console worthwhile and no games beyond March (the end of the launch window) announced at this time, who knows what great games or lack of await after Q1 2013. Just give it a chance. In fact the Gamepad and Miiverse alone make the console worth the price tag.

What about Lego City Undercover and Bayonetta 2? They both look like pretty awesome games especially Undercover. For me living in the UK Scribblenauts and Ninja Gaiden aren’t coming until next year either so they’re two for me to look forward to. I’m looking forward to hearing what’s coming beyond the launch window.

Those 2 games deserve to be on the list more than Wii Fit U and Game and Wario.
